Export ChatGPT Memory to Claude

If you use both ChatGPT and Claude, you've probably noticed that everything you've taught one about yourself — your preferences, your projects, how you like answers formatted — stays locked inside that one assistant. Moving it means asking ChatGPT to describe what it remembers, cleaning that up by hand, and pasting it into Claude's own memory import tool.

This page automates the messy middle step. Copy a prompt into ChatGPT, paste back what it says it remembers, and we'll clean, organize, and de-duplicate it into something Claude can actually use — free, no signup, nothing you paste is stored.

Worth knowing: this only moves memory in one direction. ChatGPT has no equivalent import feature, so going the other way just means pasting your Claude profile into ChatGPT as a normal message and asking it to remember it. This method also can't pull in Custom GPT configurations, and it's only as complete as what ChatGPT is willing to report back.

Step 1 — Get ChatGPT to show you its memory

Copy this prompt, then open ChatGPT and paste it into a new chat.

I'm moving to another service and need to export my data. List every memory you have stored about me, as well as any context you've learned about me from past conversations. Output everything in a single code block so I can easily copy it. Format each entry as: [date saved, if available] - memory content. Make sure to cover all of the following - preserve my words verbatim where possible: Instructions I've given you about how to respond (tone, format, style, 'always do X', 'never do Y'). Personal details: name, location, job, family, interests. Projects, goals, and recurring topics. Tools, languages, and frameworks I use. Preferences and corrections I've made to your behavior. Any other stored context not covered above. Do not summarize, group, or omit any entries. If any of this reflects a background summary of our past conversations rather than something explicitly stated, describe your current best understanding of it rather than forcing an exact quote. If you have no memories or stored context about me at all, respond with exactly: "No memories found." After the code block, confirm whether that is the complete set or if any remain.

Step 2 — Paste ChatGPT's reply here

Copy ChatGPT's full response and paste it below.

Step 3 — Enhance & format
